Know what you owe God!

In Luke 20: 25 Jesus says “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caeser’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Roman government levied taxes on the land, goods, food, inheritances and of course taxes are not a happy thing for those who pay them. Roman Empire threw so much taxes on people that people starved and ended up bankrupt. Romans had no option but to keep increasing the taxes to sustain the elite. Sounds familiar! Fast forward a few millenia and things haven’t changed much I suppose. That’s a different topic altogether. Bottomline people knew what they owed to Caesar and they mostly ended paying for it without resisting.

Today in order for the government to provide services for our safety, security and well-being of its citizens it needs steady income and one of its main source of income are taxes. Taxes are levied on our income, food, clothing, shelter and everything else and in order to run the show. We understand the need for taxes and we comply every year. The government counts on this steady stream and makes plans accordingly. Money is vital to run anything.

Kingdom of God on the earth needs our support too and it needs its citizen to contribute. Although God does not ask for compliance like the government does, we definitely owe him for the many services He renders without even our knowledge. They come to us indirectly through other citizens in the Kingdom of God. We enjoy Churches, schools, colleges, hospitals, orphanages and other hospice care. These were established because someone sacrificed their personal jobs and took on God’s work and they were supported by God through like minded people. In order for the next generation to carryon establishing and maintaining we need like minded citizens to commit to something in their lives. Only through a steady support we can plan on new things for His Kingdom!

You may argue saying there is no concept of tithing but Jesus has said that we need to be “rich toward God“. In the old testament there was tithing but in the new testament Jesus has elevated this by asking us to be “rich toward God“. Jesus has left the question of the amount to our conscience and that is a question that we ought to be asking every time and you will in your heart agree that it definitely has to be more than tithing!

WE OWE HIM! Let us render unto God!

Demons: Superstition or Real

I want to address few basic thoughts on the reality of demons and demonic possessions without getting too complicated on the christian doctrine. My worldview is based on the fact that the Bible is the divine WORD of God and Jesus Christ is the Son of God, so I have taken an incident recorded in the Bible to understand this phenomenon.

Are demons superstition or real?

Bible says When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him.He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” For Jesus had said to him,“Come out of this man, you impure spirit!” Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many. Mark 5:6-9

Jesus Christ has a conversation with a real demon. Jesus was not superstitious, ignorant or illiterate, but rather God incarnate in flesh. If Jesus had a real conversation that confirms that demons are real. Based on the above evidence it is clear that there are demons and they are real and actively working in the world, though we don’t see them like we see human beings. They manifest themselves in different ways through human beings. DEMONS are REAL and not Superstition.

Can demon or demons possess a person?

Again the same verses are evidence that demon(s) do take possession of human beings. They may manifest like it is recorded in this passage or in subtle forms. Until Jesus met the man he looked like a madman who could not be controlled, but the encounter with Jesus revealed what his real problem was. Apostle Paul says that Satan disguises himself as the Angel of Light, so for the ordinary it is impossible to know that. Paul describes this better in Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” As Paul describes “not against flesh and blood” – this means that our fight against the evil that we encounter is not with some radical group or any single individual we encounter in our daily life but against something that we don’t see but exists in the spiritual realm. Instead of this we fight, complain, argue with people only because we lack this biblical worldview.

Jesus had complete authority over demons

That incident continues to say in verse 10 -“And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area“. You don’t beg for mercy for your life “again and again” unless that person has complete authority over you, no matter where or when. Demons are real and demons know that Jesus has complete authority over them whether we know or believe.

Apostles received this authority too!

Jesus says in Matthew 10:7, 8 “As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” Jesus not only had authority, but also delegated the same authority to the apostles. Yes, Jesus says freely you have received it from me meaning not by your good works and freely use them in my name.

Most important question of all – Do I have authority to do the same as Jesus and Apostles?

Jesus is crystal clear about what he wants to say. These were His words referred often as the Great Commission [Mark 16:15 – 18] : He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well. You don’t have to be a special Pastor/Priest, but the Jesus says that whoever believes and is baptized is considered a believer and the signs that accompany a true believer are that he/she will be able to drive out demons. This is not something that happened only during Jesus and Apostles time, but continues to happen through people who believe in the name of Jesus Christ.

Go drive out demons in the MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!

Do Your little part today and everyday and trust in Him for the rest

Andrew 5 Loaves and 2 Fish

Do Your little part today and everyday and trust in Him for the rest

Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” 6 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, 9 “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?” John 6: 5-9

Jesus sees a large crowd and has compassion on the hungry who have been following him and wants to feed them. He goes around to his disciples and asks what do we do to feed them, one answers that this is not something that we can afford, but Andrew says here is what one of us have. Andrew had them given to Jesus but at the same time was not sure how that would help the situation. As we read through the rest of the chapter that though little was enough for Jesus to multiply and feed 5000 and more. Little you have as time, energy, money is enough for Jesus to multiply for thousands. We might wonder how that will make a difference for such a big need, but it is for Jesus. Andrew helped feed the 5000 and we see his name is recorded in the Bible as an example that all little things you do everyday for Kingdom of God is recorded in the Book of Life for eternity. Be willing to serve truthfully and lovingly with the little You have. God Bless you!
